Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals State of Michigan Act

State of Michigan Enrolled House Bill # 4593

The State of Michigan has amended the 2008 PA 429 act entitled "An act to regulate the purchase and sale of certain ferrous and nonferrous metals." Approved by the Governor, filed with the Secretary of State in the month of April 2014 and effective as of July 1st, 2014.  This act is also know as, "scrap metal regulatory act."  There are 17 sections in the Act that emphasizes on scrap metal dealers and sellers who are required to obtain and provide certain information at the time of transactions.  In addition to having compliance and maintaing records of purchases that may be required for law enforcement purposes, state and local governmental officers and entities.  You may read more at.....http://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/2013-2014/publicact/pdf/2014-PA-0099.pdf This act will led to some changes for CarbideRecyclingCompany.com in the way we handle our day to day business transactions with "walk in" customers.  Please read the following:

1. We are required to take photographs of the material you are selling to us.

2. We must record your vehicle make, model and license plate number.

3. When you come to the front office to be paid, we will need your photograph, a copy of your state identification (driver's license) and thumb print.

4. You must sign a statement that certifies that you are over 16 and the owner of the scrap or are an authorized seller of the material.
